    Turning 65

My birthday was three months out and the mail would not stop. They put my sign-up window on a calendar, told me what to file first, and I had coverage locked in with weeks to spare.

    Doctor networks

I was not going to leave my UT Southwestern specialist for anybody. They pulled the provider lists first and told me straight which plans she was in and which ones she was not.

    Prescription costs

Nobody else priced my seven prescriptions. They ran the drug lists, showed me the twelve month total, and I kept filling at the same pharmacy on Skillman.

We're independent, so no single carrier employs us. We put the options we can offer on the table, explain the trade-offs in plain language, and let the numbers decide.

  • Out-of-pocket maximum included

Medicare Supplement

  • No network restrictions
  • Rate history reviewed, not just year one

Why choose us

The difference is who answers the phone in year three.

Dallas Senior Insurance is a small independent agency. You will not be handed to a script reader in another state.

  • The same person every year

Not a rotating call center. The licensed agent who enrolls you is the one who picks up in January when a claim looks off.

  • Doctors checked before plans

We check your providers and run your medication list against the plans we can offer before recommending anything. That's where most Dallas retirees get caught off guard.

  • Nothing costs you a dollar

We're paid by the carriers we represent, not by you, and your premium is identical either way.

  • We show up locally

Home and in-person appointments across Dallas County, from Oak Cliff to Lake Highlands, plus phone and video when that's easier.

  • One readable page

Your options land as a single side-by-side sheet with real annual numbers, not a stack of carrier brochures.

  • A yearly re-check

Plans change every October. We re-run your numbers each fall and only move you if the math actually says so.

Side by side

Why call us instead of 1-800-MEDICARE?

Both have a place, and they solve different problems. 1-800-MEDICARE and Medicare.gov can list every plan sold in your area. We work with a smaller set of carriers, and we put in the time checking your own doctors, medications and budget against each one.

Generic hotline

1-800-MEDICARE / Medicare.gov

  • A general help line staffed by rotating representatives
  • Gives general Medicare information and can look up plan details
  • You may talk to someone new every time you call
  • Can tell you about every plan sold in your area
  • Mostly phone-based, plus the Medicare.gov self-service tools

Best for a full list of every plan sold in your area, with no one assigned to check your own doctors and prescriptions against it.

We do not offer every plan available in your area. To review all of your options, contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or the Texas State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).

The process

How a free plan review works

Four steps, no pressure, and a clear exit at any point. Most Dallas clients finish the whole thing in a single week.

Start step one
  1. A 15-minute conversation

Call or send the short form. We ask about your doctors, medications, budget, and what didn't work with your last plan.

  2. A side-by-side comparison

We price the plans we can offer in your Dallas ZIP code and build a one-page sheet you can actually read.

  3. Enrollment done with you

We complete the application together, in person, on the phone, or electronically. Usually under 30 minutes.

  4. A yearly checkup

Plans change every October. We re-run your numbers each fall and only move you if the math says so.

Local authority

Senior insurance help throughout Dallas & Dallas County

Medicare networks are local, and Dallas has an unusually dense hospital market. A plan that covers a specialist near the Dallas North Tollway can drop a doctor at Methodist Dallas Medical Center or Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas the very next plan year. We check the networks of the plans we represent, including UT Southwestern and Baylor University Medical Center, against your own provider list before anything is recommended.

We meet clients across Oak Cliff, Lake Highlands, Lakewood, Preston Hollow and the suburbs along I-635 and US-75, from Richardson to Garland to Irving, and we handle Medicare Annual Enrollment (Oct 15 - Dec 7) here every year. Many clients worked for airlines out of Love Field or DFW, or in telecom along the Richardson corridor, so we also sort out how employer retiree coverage and COBRA timing line up with Medicare.

FAQ

Medicare questions we hear in Dallas

Still stuck? Call us at 214-716-3040.

When can I enroll in Medicare in Dallas, TX?

Your Initial Enrollment Period covers the three months before your 65th birthday month, that month itself, and three months after. Annual Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7 every year. Special Enrollment Periods open after a move to Dallas, a retirement, or the loss of employer coverage from a job at places like DFW's major employers or a DISD retirement.

Does it cost anything to work with your agency?

No. Dallas Senior Insurance gets paid by the insurance carriers we represent, and your monthly premium is exactly the same whether you sign up through us or straight from the carrier.

Medicare Advantage or a Medicare Supplement, which is better?

There is no single right answer for every Dallas resident. It comes down to which doctors you see, how often you travel, what medications you take, and your monthly budget. We run the numbers on both, using the carriers we represent, before we say which one fits your situation.

Can you check whether my doctor is in network?

Yes, and in Dallas this step matters more than most places. This is an unusually dense hospital market: UT Southwestern, Baylor University Medical Center, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas all negotiate separate contracts with insurers. A Medicare Advantage network that covers a specialist in Plano can drop a Methodist physician in Oak Cliff the next plan year. We check your exact provider list, and your prescriptions, against the plans we can offer before anything is recommended.

Do you meet in person?

Yes. We do home visits across Dallas neighborhoods like Oak Cliff, Lake Highlands, Lakewood, and Preston Hollow, plus suburbs including Richardson, Garland, Irving, and Mesquite. Phone and video appointments are available too, which many clients near I-635 and US-75 prefer for a quick follow-up.
